On Tuesday (October 8), Pakistan all-rounder Aamer Jamal took a sensational one-handed catch to dismiss England’s Ollie Pope in the ongoing first Pakistan vs England Test in Multan. With opener Ben Duckett sidelined due to a left thumb injury sustained while taking Abrar Ahmed’s catch, Pope was forced to open alongside Zak Crawley.
Crawley got England off to a decent start by hitting a boundary off the last ball of Shaheen Afridi’s first over. However, Pope’s innings ended abruptly. Facing just two balls, Pope was dismissed without scoring by Naseem Shah. On the second ball of the over, Pope attempted a pull shot off a short delivery, connecting well, but Aamer Jamal produced an extraordinary airborne effort, leaping to his right and snatching the ball with one hand to complete a brilliant catch.

Earlier, Pakistan posted a commanding first-innings total of 556 runs. The hosts were powered by captain Shan Masood’s 151 and opener Abdullah Shafique’s 102, who put together a mammoth 253-run partnership. Agha Salman further boosted Pakistan’s total on the second day, scoring an unbeaten 104, while Saud Shakeel contributed a valuable 82.
England’s bowling attack was led by Jack Leach, who took three wickets, while debutants Brydon Carse and Gus Atkinson claimed two wickets apiece. Despite their efforts, Pakistan’s dominance with the bat has put pressure on England as the Test progresses.
