Rajasthan Royals’ ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has once again showcased his witty side, this time on social media. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, May 5, Ashwin posted a hilarious reel shedding light on the struggles faced by bowlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
With teams consistently notching up scores over 200 runs, it’s been a tough ride for bowlers across the board. SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have particularly been on a rampage, breaching the 200-run mark on five occasions combined. SRH even set a new record for the highest-ever IPL total, posting a mammoth 287 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Not to be outdone, RCB responded with a staggering 262 in the second innings, setting the bar higher.
Adding to the spectacle, the Punjab Kings pulled off the highest successful chase in IPL history, chasing down 262 against the Knight Riders.
Ashwin didn’t miss the chance to poke fun at the plight of bowlers, especially in venues like Jaipur, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, where batsmen seem to be having a field day. However, his reel took a particular dig at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where the Royals are set to lock horns with Delhi Capitals next Tuesday. With an average first-innings score of 255 in Delhi, it’s evident that the batters are ruling the roost while bowlers are left scratching their heads.
Ashwin’s reel not only provided comic relief but also highlighted the dominance of batsmen in this IPL season, leaving fans eagerly anticipating more fireworks on the field.
