Renowned veteran batsman Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, was originally scheduled to attend the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday, January 22. However, citing personal reasons, Kohli was unable to participate in the auspicious ceremony. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement earlier in the day, confirming Kohli’s withdrawal from the first two Test matches against England.
Notably, a humorous incident unfolded in Ayodhya as a video surfaced on social media, capturing the gathering of people eager to take pictures with a doppelganger of Virat Kohli. The footage depicts a lively crowd surrounding the duplicate Kohli, seeking selfies and autographs.
The BCCI formally announced Kohli’s absence from the Test squad for the England series, attributing it to personal reasons. The cricketer and his wife, Anushka Sharma, also did not attend the Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ event in Ayodhya, despite receiving an invitation at their Mumbai residence. Kohli had made a quick trip from Indore to Mumbai after the conclusion of the second T20I against Afghanistan on January 14 to be present at home.
