In a light-hearted exchange during the IPL 2024 match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Chepauk on Wednesday, PBKS pacer Harshal Patel took a playful jab at RR leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal by mimicking his trademark celebration.
Patel, who currently shares the title of leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 scalps, pulled off Chahal’s celebratory pose after taking a sliding catch to dismiss CSK batsman Sameer Rizvi in the 16th over of the match.
Chahal, known for his witty presence on social media, didn’t let the moment pass without a response. He shared an image of Patel imitating his pose on X (formerly Twitter) with a humorous caption, tagging tech mogul Elon Musk and cheekily requesting a copyright claim on Patel’s mimicry. “Dear Elonmusk paaji, Harshal Patel bhai pe copyright lagana hai,” Chahal wrote.
Earlier in the match, CSK had set a target of 163 runs for PBKS, propelled by a well-constructed 62 from skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. PBKS bowlers Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar played crucial roles, each picking up two wickets to restrict the opposition.
This entertaining exchange between Chahal and Patel adds a fun element to the intense competition of the IPL. It also comes in the wake of PBKS’s remarkable performance in their previous outing, where they chased down a monumental 262-run target against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), marking the highest successful chase in IPL history. On the other hand, CSK had recently broken a two-match losing streak with a convincing 78-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous encounter.
