New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell will miss the upcoming Major League Cricket (MLC) campaign in July 2024 due to injury, the Texas Super Kings have confirmed. Mitchell, who joined the franchise earlier this year, sustained the setback following his stint with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Noor Ahmad named as a replacement for Daryl Mitchell
Mitchell’s absence has prompted the Texas Super Kings to recruit Afghanistan’s promising wrist spinner Noor Ahmad as his replacement for the second edition of MLC. Ahmad, known for his crafty bowling skills, will bolster the team’s spin attack ahead of the season.
The 29-year-old Mitchell, a key member of the New Zealand squad, recently faced disappointment with his team’s early exit from the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. His injury, however, sidelines him from further participation in the upcoming cricketing event.
“Daryl Mitchell won’t play in the 2024 Major League Cricket (MLC) due to injury. Texas Super Kings have signed Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad as his replacement,” confirmed a statement from the franchise.
The Texas Super Kings will now look forward to Ahmad’s contributions as they aim to make an impact in the fiercely competitive MLC, scheduled to commence in July.
