Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been dealt a significant blow in the ongoing IPL 2024 season as their star batter, Devon Conway, has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The Kiwi opener sustained a fractured left thumb, initially expected to sideline him temporarily. However, subsequent assessments revealed the injury’s severity, forcing Conway to withdraw from the entire competition.
Conway, who had been a pivotal figure for CSK in the past two seasons, was anticipated to play a crucial role in their title defense. With 23 matches under his belt for the reigning champions, his absence leaves a notable void in the batting lineup.
In response to Conway’s unfortunate setback, CSK swiftly moved to secure a replacement, signing England pacer Richard Gleeson at his base price of INR 50 lakh. Gleeson’s inclusion aims to bolster CSK’s bowling arsenal, providing additional depth and versatility to their squad.
