South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen has officially announced his retirement from Test cricket, effective immediately. However, he assured fans that he will continue to make himself available for the Proteas in white-ball formats.

Known for his prolific performances in limited-overs cricket, Klaasen played four Test matches throughout his career. He made his debut against India in Ranchi in 2019 and last appeared in the format against West Indies in 2023. As a wicketkeeper-batsman, Klaasen accumulated a total of 104 runs at an average of 13 from his four Test appearances, with his highest score being 35 against Australia in Sydney.

In a statement explaining his decision, Klaasen described it as a tough choice, emphasizing that he is bidding farewell to his favorite format, Test cricket.
