Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) found themselves in an unexpected situation after their flight, en route to Kolkata from Lucknow, was diverted to Guwahati due to inclement weather in the City of Joy. The diversion not only disrupted their travel plans but also sparked a humorous conversation among the team members, including fast bowler Harshit Rana and head coach Chandrakant Pandit.
Following their dominating victory over Lucknow Super Giants, KKR was gearing up for their upcoming clash against Mumbai Indians at the iconic Eden Gardens. However, Mother Nature had other plans, forcing the team to land in Guwahati instead.
Amidst the chaos, Rana seized the moment to suggest a rather unconventional solution to their predicament. With their next match scheduled against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on May 19, Rana proposed advancing the fixture to May 7 or 8 to avoid another trip back.
In a lighthearted exchange, Rana jokingly discouraged Pandit from involving the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in their plans, suggesting they take matters into their own hands. Pandit, however, entertained the idea and promised to explore the possibility of rescheduling with the cricketing authorities.
The banter continued as Rana playfully urged Pandit to consider skipping the bureaucratic route and simply enjoying an extended stay in Guwahati, perhaps even organizing a practice session and a match to make the most of their unexpected layover.
Despite the jesting tone, KKR remains focused on their cricketing endeavors, currently leading the points table with an impressive record of 8 wins in 11 matches. With their next encounter against Mumbai Indians looming large, the diversion to Guwahati provided an amusing detour in their journey towards IPL glory.
