India Women Sweep Series, Defeat Bangladesh by 21 Runs

Once hailed as one of India’s brightest all-round prospects, Radha Yadav faced a setback when she was dropped from the national team in early 2023 due to a slump in form. However, her perseverance and stellar performances in the Women’s Premiere League (WPL) and domestic circuit paved the way for her triumphant return after a 13-month hiatus.

Yadav’s resurgence was on full display in the recent T20 series against Bangladesh, where she emerged as the standout performer, clinching the title of Player of the Series. In the final match, Yadav’s left-arm spin wreaked havoc on the Bangladeshi batting lineup, securing three crucial wickets and helping India seal a comprehensive 5-0 whitewash.

India’s victory was a collective effort, with contributions from both bat and ball. Dayalan Hemalatha’s explosive innings at No. 3 set the tone, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur and young sensation Richa Ghosh provided crucial firepower in the middle order. On the bowling front, Yadav’s spin wizardry was ably supported by leg-spinner Asha Sobhana, who chipped in with key breakthroughs.

Reflecting on her stellar performance, Yadav attributed her success to hard work and a focus on bowling with precision. She emphasized the role of WPL in honing her skills and expressed optimism about the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur lauded her team’s composed display throughout the series and highlighted the importance of carrying this momentum into the World Cup. Despite some lapses in fielding, Kaur expressed confidence in her team’s ability to rectify mistakes and evolve as a unit.

With the T20 World Cup looming on the horizon, India’s emphatic series win against Bangladesh serves as a significant confidence booster. As the team gears up for the global showdown, Yadav’s resurgence stands as a testament to the power of determination and hard work in overcoming adversity.
