Kapil Dev is Elected President of the Professional Golf Tour of India

Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, who led India to its first World Cup (WC) victory in the year 1983, is set to usher in a new era for Indian golf as he has been unanimously elected president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

Kapil Dev Became a Board Member in 2021

Kapil, who became a board member in 2021 and has also served as vice president of PGTI, will be taking over from H R Srinivasan, whose tenure has come to an end. During his time with PGTI, Kapil introduced the Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational tournament, a lucrative Rs 2 crore (approximately $240,000) golf event, into the PGTI calendar.

“Indian pro golfers have been doing great for years. We now have Indian players in most of the big tours and will have two golfers at the Olympics for the third time in a row. Our tour is strong, and we hope to make it even stronger in the coming years,” said the 65-year-old.

With his leadership, Kapil Dev aims to further strengthen Indian golf, building on the successes and expanding the reach and impact of the sport in the country.
