Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen recently visited the new terminal of Lucknow Airport for IPL 2024 and was left impressed by the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Pietersen expressed his astonishment at the world-class infrastructure of the airport terminal, describing it as unparalleled in his experience, even after traversing through some of the world’s busiest and largest airports.
Known for his aggressive batting on the cricket field, Pietersen took to social media to commend CM Yogi for the remarkable infrastructure, tagging him while praising the Lucknow airport.
The Yogi government’s expansion of both terminals of Lucknow Airport has significantly enhanced its capacity. The recent addition of the third terminal, which started operating in March with an annual capacity of 80 lakh passengers, underscores the state’s commitment to modernizing its air travel infrastructure.
Uttar Pradesh now boasts 4 international airports and 11 domestic airports, with construction underway for 6 more. This expansion aligns with the increasing demand for air travel in the state and contributes to its economic growth.
Given that Lucknow is the home ground of IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants, the airport serves as a crucial hub for players and support staff who regularly visit the city. The proximity of the airport to the stadium ensures seamless travel arrangements, particularly during IPL matches, when the airport witnesses a flurry of activity.
Pietersen’s praise serves as a testament to the strides made by the Uttar Pradesh government in enhancing infrastructure and fostering a conducive environment for sports and tourism in the state.
