The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad, accompanied by their support staff, touched down in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, gearing up for their upcoming IPL 2024 encounter against the Delhi Capitals (DC) scheduled for Wednesday.
Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi-based franchise has emerged as an early front-runner in the IPL points table, clinching victories in both of their previous matches. KKR, fresh off a convincing win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) last Friday, is currently placed second in the standings with four points from two outings.
During their journey to Vizag, glimpses of camaraderie and light-hearted moments among the KKR players were evident, particularly with Rinku Singh and Andre Russell stealing the spotlight.
Rinku Singh entertained his teammates by belting out ‘Lutt Putt Gaya’ from the Bollywood flick ‘Dunki’, featuring Shah Rukh Khan. Amused by Singh’s rendition, the attention turned towards Andre Russell when Rinku prompted him to sing the same tune. Russell, with his trademark charisma, jokingly claimed ownership of the song, stating, “You don’t sing that song, it’s my song.”
Amidst laughter and banter, Russell delighted his teammates with his rendition, drawing smiles from all around, including Rinku Singh, who playfully teased the West Indies all-rounder about his accent.
Following their triumph over RCB, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer hailed the contributions of Russell and Sunil Narine, labeling them as “invaluable and exceptional” assets for the franchise.
As the KKR squad settles in Visakhapatnam, anticipation mounts for their clash against Delhi Capitals, promising an exciting showdown between two of the IPL’s formidable contenders.
