KL Rahul’s Kannada Invite for Bengaluru Test Goes Viral

Team India and New Zealand are all set to clash in the first Test of their highly anticipated series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, starting on Wednesday, October 16. This will mark the teams’ return to the iconic venue for a Test match after a long gap of 12 years. The excitement is palpable, with India wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul urging the Bengaluru crowd to come out in large numbers to support their home team.

KL Rahul, who is back in his hometown, has fond memories of the stadium, especially from his last international appearance at this venue during the World Cup 2023, where he thrilled his local fans with a magnificent knock of 102 runs off just 64 balls against the Netherlands. As he prepares for another stint at the ground, Rahul took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reminiscing about his younger days when he frequently visited the revered canteen at the stadium.

In a video uploaded by BCCI, Rahul expressed his excitement, inviting fans to join him and Team India for the Test. “We invite everyone to join us for the Test match, which is starting from 16th. It’s been some time since we played international cricket at Chinnaswamy Stadium, so I’m sure all of you will be excited about this and will come in big numbers to support your team,” said KL Rahul in Kannada.

He added, “We spent a lot of time in the canteen and the clubhouse behind the ground. I haven’t been there in the last year or so, I don’t know if that place has changed now, but it used to be delicious, and our mornings started well with dosa and coffee.”

India will be looking to build on their recent 2-0 series win against Bangladesh and continue their dominant home run. With the World Test Championship (WTC) Final looming, the Indian side requires just three wins from their remaining eight Tests to secure their spot in the final. Before that, they face a crucial Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, set to kick off on November 22, with the first Test scheduled in Perth.

All eyes will be on Bengaluru as fans eagerly await this long-overdue Test match between two top sides.
