Durban Super Giants’ wicketkeeper-batsman, Heinrich Klaasen, showcased his power-hitting prowess during the SA20 contest against the SunRisers Eastern Cape on Saturday. In the 10th over of the innings, Klaasen clobbered a massive six off left-arm spinner Liam Dawson that soared to a staggering 105 meters, reaching the top of the roof at Kingsmead. The explosive shot left Dawson dazed, and the video of the remarkable six quickly went viral on social media.
This wasn’t Klaasen’s first display of big-hitting in the match, as he had already hit a six in Dawson’s previous over. The South African batter showcased his ability to read the length quickly and dispatched the ball over long-on with precision.
Earlier in the game, the Super Giants won the toss and chose to bat first. However, they faced early setbacks with the dismissal of Quinton de Kock in the 2nd over. Simon Harmer further dented their innings by dismissing Matthew Breetzke (35 off 24 balls) and Jon-Jon Smuts (9 runs).
The Super Giants had an unbeaten streak until their previous encounter against the Pretoria Capitals, where their run was halted by the Capitals’ maiden victory. Batting first, the Capitals amassed 204 runs in their allotted 20 overs, propelled by Will Jacks’ destructive century. In response, the Super Giants’ batters showed promise, but fell short, managing a total of 187 runs on the board.
