This move fills the position that became vacant after Gautam Gambhir, the former India cricketer and head coach, joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor last year.
Zaheer Khan, a celebrated former Indian fast bowler, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Previously, he was associated with the Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2018 to 2022, where he made significant contributions as the director of cricket and later as the head of global development. Under his mentorship, the Mumbai Indians achieved notable success, securing back-to-back IPL titles in 2019 and 2020 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
