Rahul Dravid Contemplating Mentor Role with Lucknow Super Giants

Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of Team India has come to an end, and the seasoned cricketer is contemplating a return to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. VVS Laxman is set to fill Dravid’s shoes as the new head coach for Team India.

Amidst the developments, rumors are circulating about Dravid’s potential association with an IPL franchise in the upcoming season. Rumors suggest that if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn’t extend a new contract, Dravid may join Lucknow Super Giants as their mentor.

The departure of Gautam Gambhir, the previous mentor for Lucknow Super Giants, who returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024, has created a vacancy. While there’s interest from the Rajasthan Royals in bringing back their former player Dravid, reports indicate that the offer from Lucknow Super Giants is more lucrative.

Dravid faced challenges as Team India’s coach, as the Men in Blue fell short in ICC tournaments. The team suffered a loss to England in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, and Australia emerged victorious over the sub-continent squad in the final of the World Test Championship. The ICC World Cup 2023 final saw Australia defeating India at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19.
