Afghanistan vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup: Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan lost his temper during his side’s 2024 T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent on Monday, June 24. The incident occurred when Rashid, denied a double by batting partner Karim Janat, angrily threw his bat, narrowly missing Janat.
The tense moment unfolded in the 20th over of Afghanistan’s innings. Tanzim Hasan Sakib delivered a length ball, and Rashid attempted a helicopter shot over mid-wicket. However, the ball took a leading edge and flew over covers. Rashid charged for a second run but was halted by Janat, who instead wanted to discuss the play. Rashid, visibly frustrated, showed his displeasure by tossing his bat, an act that could have endangered his partner.
Despite the tension, Janat managed to regain his composure and gave Rashid the strike by taking a single. Rashid then showcased his prowess, finishing the innings with a six off the final delivery.
This incident highlights the pressure and intensity in high-stakes matches, where emotions can sometimes spill over. Rashid’s final six, however, ensured that Afghanistan ended their innings on a high note, despite the brief moment of discord.
