Former India cricketer Ravi Shastri paid tribute to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, who passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Ratan Tata’s last rites will be conducted with full state honors. His mortal remains will be placed at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in south Mumbai, where the public can pay their respects from 10 am to 4 pm.

Taking to his official X handle, Ravi Shastri remembered Tata as a “philanthropist par excellence” and expressed deep admiration for the visionary leader. Ratan Tata, one of India’s most beloved and respected industrialists, steered the Tata Group to new heights and made lasting contributions to the nation, particularly in philanthropy.
Born on December 28, 1937, Tata was the Chairman of Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of India’s largest philanthropic trusts. He led Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012, and was subsequently named Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons. Tata was honored with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, in 2008 for his service to the nation.
