India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja etched his name into the annals of cricket history by claiming his 300th Test wicket during Day 4 of the ongoing match against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur, on Monday, September 30. Jadeja reached the remarkable milestone by dismissing Bangladesh’s Khaled Ahmed with a caught-and-bowled effort, helping India bowl out the visitors for 233 in their first innings.
This historic feat makes Ravindra Jadeja only the second-fastest Indian to achieve 300 Test wickets, taking 17,428 deliveries to reach the mark. His spin partner, Ravichandran Ashwin, had previously set the benchmark by taking just 15,636 deliveries. Jadeja is now the seventh Indian bowler to enter the elite 300-wicket club, joining legends such as Anil Kumble (619), Ravichandran Ashwin (524*), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), Ishant Sharma, and Zaheer Khan (311 each).
Ravindra Jadeja Achieves 300 Test Wickets Milestone in IND vs BAN 2024 Series
Notably, Ravindra Jadeja is only the third Indian all-rounder, after Kapil Dev and Ashwin, to have scored 3,000 Test runs and taken 300 wickets. He achieved this landmark in just 74 Tests, making him the second-fastest in the world to reach the dual milestone, behind England’s Ian Botham.
Ravindra Jadeja’s contributions continue to elevate India’s dominance in the longest format, cementing his legacy as one of the finest all-rounders in modern cricket.
