In a dazzling display of fielding prowess, Team India’s Rinku Singh has been adjudged the Fielder of the Series for the second time in a row. Singh’s exceptional performances during the recent three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka have earned him this accolade, adding to his previous recognition for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.
Despite a limited impact with the bat in the Sri Lanka series—scoring just one run off two deliveries after being promoted to No. 4—Singh‘s contributions in the field and with the ball were instrumental. His standout moment came in the third T20I, where he played a key role in Team India’s dramatic Super Over victory, ensuring a clean 3-0 series sweep.
Singh’s fielding brilliance was on full display as he ended the series with the highest number of catches (four). His notable contributions included two crucial catches and an exceptional performance with the ball. Singh bowled the penultimate over of the third T20I, conceding only three runs and claiming two wickets to reinvigorate India’s chances in the match.

His fielding excellence, honed during his time with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has seamlessly translated into his performances for India. Despite a challenging moment where he dropped a catch in the second T20I due to a slippery outfield, Singh’s resilience shone through. He seized the next opportunity and continued to make impactful fielding plays.
During the medal presentation ceremony, Singh was lauded by fielding coach T Dilip for his ability to bounce back from adversity. The fielding medal was presented by newly-appointed assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, who has closely worked with Singh during his stint with KKR.
In a nod to his previous acceptance, Singh again attributed his success to ‘God’s Plan, Baby’ but was not required to give a speech this time. Instead, he was met with hearty congratulations from the coaching staff and rapturous applause from his teammates. Although Singh’s batting contributions were minimal in the series, his fielding efforts have underscored his value to the team, reinforcing his reputation as a dynamo on the field.
