Meerut Mavericks captain Rinku Singh showed his strong batting skills in the 14th Uttar Pradesh T20 League match against the Lucknow Falcons on Sunday, September 1, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In a rain-affected match, reduced to just 11 overs per side, the Mavericks won the toss and opted to bat first.
Openers Akshay Dubey and Swastik Chikara provided a solid foundation, putting on 45 runs in six overs. However, Akshay’s innings were cut short due to an injury, forcing him to retire hurt after scoring a steady 20 off 17 balls, including three boundaries.
Rinku Singh then took center stage, making an immediate impact with a boundary on his first ball. The left-hander’s knock of 39 off just 12 balls at a strike rate of 325, including three boundaries and four massive sixes, electrified the crowd. His quickfire innings provided the Mavericks with much-needed momentum.
Meanwhile, Swastik Chikara anchored the innings with a sensational unbeaten 75 off 36 balls, featuring four boundaries and eight towering sixes. The Mavericks’ formidable batting display led them to a commanding total of 142/1 in their allotted 11 overs, setting a challenging target for the Lucknow Falcons.
Rinku Singh’s captaincy and powerful batting, combined with Swastik Chikara’s unbeaten half-century, ensured that the Meerut Mavericks ended their innings on a high note, putting immense pressure on their opponents in this thrilling UP T20 League encounter.
