In a thrilling encounter at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, September 4, Meerut Mavericks’ captain Rinku Singh made a game-changing impact with the ball, taking three wickets in a single over during the 20th match of the UP T20 League 2024 against the Kanpur Superstars. The match, shortened to nine overs due to the DLS method, saw Kanpur chasing a target of 106 runs.
At the end of five overs, Kanpur stood at 61-3, well within reach of the target. Rinku Singh, known for his prowess as a batter, surprised everyone by taking charge with the ball in the sixth over. Shaurya Singh struck Rinku for a boundary on the very first ball, but the off-spinner quickly turned the tide. On the second delivery, Rinku dismissed Shaurya Singh for just five runs.
Rinku Singh continued to showcase his skill, claiming his second wicket on the fifth ball, with Adarsh Singh stumped off a wide delivery. The over’s final ball saw Sudhanshu Sonkar trying to clear the boundary, only to be caught at deep midwicket. Rinku Singh ended the over with outstanding figures of three wickets for just seven runs, completely dismantling Kanpur’s middle order.
