Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar expressed his admiration and well wishes for Shikhar Dhawan after the latter announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24. Dhawan debuted for India in 2010 but truly made his mark in 2013 when he emerged as a key player in the Champions Trophy, helping India secure the title with his incredible performances. His explosive Test debut saw him score a rapid 185 against Australia, cementing his reputation as one of India’s premier openers. Over his career, Dhawan became a crucial part of India’s batting lineup alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, excelling in all formats.
The left-hander played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, amassing 6793 runs in ODIs with 17 centuries and 39 fifties. His last international appearance came in December 2022.
