Mumbai, India – The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is gearing up for a special inauguration as they prepare to unveil a life-size statue of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on November 1.
Inauguration Date Revealed
In an exclusive interaction on Thursday, MCA’s President, Amol Kale, shared the exciting news. He disclosed that the majestic statue, a tribute to the iconic Sachin Tendulkar, will find its place near the Sachin Tendulkar stand within the stadium premises. The grand inauguration is scheduled for November 1, just on the eve of India’s World Cup fixture against Sri Lanka, which takes place on November 2.
Tribute to a Cricketing Legend
This initiative was first announced back in February by the MCA president, expressing the association’s intent to commemorate the cricketing legend who celebrated his 50th birthday in April. The life-size statue is set to become a symbol of Tendulkar’s enduring impact on Indian cricket and his enduring legacy.
Honoring a Living Legend
Sachin Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket in 2013, already has a stand at the Wankhede Stadium named after him. This additional honor in the form of a life-size statue cements his legendary status in the hearts of cricket fans and players alike.
The MCA has a tradition of honoring cricketing greats, and in the recent past, they’ve dedicated a corporate box to former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and a stand to Dilip Vengsarkar. The forthcoming inauguration of Sachin Tendulkar’s statue at the Wankhede Stadium promises to be a momentous occasion in the history of Indian cricket.
