The highly anticipated two-match series between India and Australia is set to kick off in Centurion under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. As the Indian team gears up for its first-ever series in South Africa, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has shared his thoughts on the team’s prospects, particularly focusing on the return of Prasidh Krishna.
Expressing reservations about Krishna’s workload, Gavaskar remarked, “I am not sure about Prasidh Krishna. He has come back from injury. If he needs to bowl 15-20 overs a day, I am not sure whether he will be able to do it or not. I hope he proves me wrong because if someone proves me wrong, it means India is doing well, and if India is doing well, then I am very happy.”
Gavaskar highlighted the crucial role of Jasprit Bumrah, who will lead the pace attack and serve as the vice-captain in this series. Bumrah, along with Mohammad Siraj, is expected to play a pivotal role in the team’s bowling strategy. Despite the absence of Mohammed Shami due to fitness concerns, Gavaskar believes that Bumrah and Siraj have earned their spots based on their consistent performances in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
The Indian squad for the South Africa test series includes a formidable lineup, featuring Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and more. The series opener in Centurion marks a significant moment for Indian cricket as the team aims to secure a historic victory against Australia on South African soil.
