In a setback for Gujarat Titans, fast bowler Sushant Mishra has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Mishra, who was roped in by the Titans for a hefty sum of INR 2.20 crore in the auction, had high hopes of making his IPL debut this year. However, despite being part of the squad, Mishra didn’t get the opportunity to showcase his skills on the field.
Last year, Mishra was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement for Saurabh Dubey but remained benched throughout the season. The Titans’ acquisition of Mishra in the auction sparked a bidding war with the five-time champions Mumbai Indians, highlighting the potential seen in the young left-arm pacer.
Mishra’s unfortunate stint continues as he exits the IPL 2024 without a single appearance. His journey from being part of the Indian team that finished as runners-up in the 2020 U19 World Cup to the IPL sidelines reflects the unpredictable nature of cricket.
In a swift move to fill the void left by Mishra, the Titans have named Gurnoor Brar as his replacement. Brar, who represented the Punjab Kings in IPL 2024, made his debut against Lucknow Super Giants at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. However, his maiden outing didn’t go as planned, as he finished with figures of 3-0-42-0.
Despite the initial setback, Brar’s inclusion provides the Titans with a fresh bowling option and an opportunity for the young cricketer to prove his mettle in the IPL arena once again. As the IPL 2024 season progresses, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the emergence of new talents and the unfolding of thrilling encounters on the field.
