Veteran New Zealand pacer Trent Boult shared an emotional post on Instagram after playing his final T20 International (T20I) in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. Despite New Zealand’s consistent performance in ICC tournaments over the past decade, their campaign this year ended in disappointment as they crashed out in the group stage.
New Zealand ended its journey in the 2024 T20 World Cup on a high note with a solid win against Papua New Guinea on Monday, June 17. Boult bowled brilliantly, with figures of 4-0-14-2.
Trent Boult’s Emotional Instagram Post
Boult recently took to his official Instagram handle to share a couple of pictures reminiscing about his T20I career. He reflected on the memorable on-field moments spent with his long-standing teammates Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, with whom he has played since their age-group cricket days. Boult wrote, “Time flys!! Who would’ve thought the game we played as young kids would take us this far. Great to look back on some memories with @kane_s_w & @tim_southee.”
Tim Southee responded to the post in the comments section, writing, “It has been a hell of a ride, brother .”
Boult’s emotional post captures the essence of his illustrious career and the strong bonds he formed with his teammates over the years. His departure from T20Is marks the end of an era for New Zealand cricket, as fans and fellow cricketers alike bid farewell to a player who has given so much to the sport.
