Bihar cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name in the record books on October 1, becoming the first Indian to score the fastest century in Under-19 Test cricket. This remarkable achievement occurred during the ongoing unofficial Test match against Australia Under-19 in Chennai.
The 13-year-old sensation reached his century in just 58 balls, making it the fastest by an Indian and the second fastest overall in the format. The current record for the fastest century is held by England’s Moeen Ali, who scored an unbeaten century off 56 balls against Sri Lanka in 2005, which included 10 boundaries and five sixes.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi showcased his explosive batting skills, finishing his innings with an impressive 104 runs off 62 balls, which comprised 14 boundaries and four sixes. His innings came to an end shortly after reaching his milestone, as he was run out. At the time of his dismissal, India was positioned at 240/4, with captain Soham Patwardhan (27*) and Abhigyan Kundu (18*) at the crease.

Earlier in the match, Australia was bowled out for 293 runs in their first innings. Aidan O’Connor led the Australian batting with a solid 61 runs off 70 balls, while Riley Kingsell (53) and Christian Howe (48) also made significant contributions. For India, bowlers Samarth Nagaraj and Mohamed Enaan were the standout performers, each claiming three wickets.
