Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and ace batter Virat Kohli were spotted at the New Delhi airport following the Men in Blue’s emphatic 280-run victory in the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh in Chennai. The duo was seen posing for photos with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithilesh Kumar Katheria, who congratulated the cricketing icons.

(Today, I had a hearty meeting with the great batsman of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli and the head coach Gautam Gambhir at the New Delhi airport, and I extended my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for their victory in the first Test match against Bangladesh.)
The ongoing Test series marks Gambhir’s debut as India’s red-ball coach, after taking over from Rahul Dravid, whose tenure concluded following India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup. This new role for Gambhir is significant as India is looking to build on its test dominance.
While Team India celebrated a commanding win in Chennai, Kohli struggled with the bat, registering scores of 6 and 17. However, the ace batter is expected to bounce back when India faces Bangladesh in the final Test of the series, scheduled to take place in Kanpur starting on September 27.
