Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli showed his support for teammate Dinesh Karthik following RCB’s heartbreaking defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2024 Eliminator clash on Wednesday. The match, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, witnessed RCB batting first and posting a competitive total of 172/8 after a remarkable comeback in the season with six consecutive wins.
Despite contributions from Kohli (33), Rajat Patidar (34), Mahipal Lomror (32), and Cameron Green (27), RCB couldn’t secure substantial individual performances. In his final innings, Karthik scored 11 runs off 13 balls. However, Rajasthan Royals successfully chased down the target in 19 overs, sealing their place in Qualifier 2 and ending RCB’s campaign.
Karthik, who recently announced his plans to retire after IPL 2024, experienced a disappointing end to his journey with RCB. Kohli’s gesture of consoling and embracing Karthik after the match highlighted the camaraderie within the team, despite the disappointment of the loss.
