Team India stalwart Virat Kohli dedicated a heartfelt note to his wife, Anushka Sharma, following their victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue became two-time World Champions by defeating South Africa in the final on June 29 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
With this triumph, Virat Kohli completed his trophy collection in white ball cricket, having previously won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. The World Test Championship (WTC) mace remains the only accolade missing from his cabinet.
Kohli had a quiet tournament with the bat until the final. However, when India found themselves in deep trouble at 34/3, Virat stepped up, scoring a responsible 76 off 59 balls. His stability allowed Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) to play freely, helping India reach a respectable total of 176.
India’s bowlers then delivered sensational spells, with Hardik Pandya (3/20), Jasprit Bumrah (2/18), and Arshdeep Singh (2/20) restricting South Africa to 169/8, securing the victory.
Virat Kohli’s Touching Tribute to Anushka
After the match, Kohli celebrated the triumph with Anushka Sharma, penning an emotional note on Instagram:
“None of this would remotely be possible without you my love. You keep me humble and grounded and you always say it how it is with absolute honesty. I couldn’t be more grateful for you. This victory is as much yours as it’s mine. Thank you and I love you for being YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ @anushkasharma.”
